Direct import

Our wholesaler specializes in delivering medicines to hospitals as a part of the direct import procedure. Direct import consists in importing products from abroad that are not admitted to trading in Poland, but are necessary to save patients life or health. Most often pharmaceuticals are imported from another country of the European Union, but they also often come from distant countries of the world.

The most common reason to import a medicine under the direct import procedure is the exhaustion of therapeutic possibilities with pharmaceuticals available in Poland. The direct import medicines can be used at the beginning of therapy (e.g. in a rare disease), as a part of prophylactic treatment (vaccines) or in specialized nutrition (various types of diets).

The first stage of the direct import procedure is to issue an application by a doctor who conducts the therapy. This application must be then confirmed by a medical consultant. Tha final step is to submit the confirmed application to the Ministry of Health for approval.

Due to SARS-CoV-2 virus infections, Minister of Health introduced a simplified procedure for this proccess, which will apply until the date of cancellation of the state of epidemic threat in Poland.
